iPowerWeb Reviews

It's just terrible. Here's how my triennial billing:
I get an email that says I'm being automatically charged for $250+ for my service.
That seems expensive, since I have ONE MONTH before my service is up, I call and talk to a customer rep. Says for 3 years, that's the deal. I do some research, and find they have a 90$ deal for two years, so I call up and ask for this package--I sign up.

I check my credit card statement, and I'm charged for both, 250 AND 90.00. I call, they promise a refund. I check again, and I'm charged for 250+90+ANOTHER 90?! No, I'm not making this up.

After 2 days of talking to different people who are no help (it just seems like they don't have an organized system--their phones can't even transfer calls?!)

So, here I am. Visa rec'ed that I cancel my card (its billed to my debit, so I'm 10 business days without access to atms) and I FINALLY decided to change servers.

There's better service out there. Trust me, I work in design and have worked some good ones.

iPowerWeb was a relative disappointment for me. Although the prices were competitive, the service was not as good as I would've hoped. The control panel was highly disorganized, and the domain credit system was fairly confusing. PhpMyAdmin operated at an unworkably slow pace; it would take 2 minutes to just run a SELECT query in a table with 3 rows. The initial setup was really annoying, I had to go out of my way just to enable PHP and MySQL. The most annoying part about iPower was its irritating persistence to try to get me to renew my hosting; they spammed my cell phone, calling me when I was in class or about to go to bed.

There are better hosts out there, don't be fooled by this rating.

I've just started hosting with iPowerWeb and although I have nothing to compare it to it seems pretty good so far. I got my hosting and domain on sale for $4.95 a month. My only complaint so far is that the version of Wordpress it installed was out of date.
